| Dear Xanga,
Once we were friends. Times have changed. As has the world. I'm sorry that we haven't talked in while but I've found someone else. When you think you can forgive me you can find me at http://www.facebook.com/ Thanks for the good times.
Yours sincerely, Timothy J. Knight
| | Currently Listening Cassadaga By Bright Eyes Four Winds, Hot Knives, Middleman, No One Would Riot For Less see related | So I'm going to France on Tuesday. I'll be going to work with Word of Life for the next 3 months.
I'm going to be working and staying in two locations. The first is at La Maison Blanche, the main campsite, located in Quevert, near Dinan, in Brittany. The second is the more central youth centre located just outside of Paris in the town of Ecouen. I will be helping out the ministry over there by getting involved in Mission Trips into Paris, clean-up crews working on the properties, and helping out with youth groups and Bible Clubs.
Please pray that I will be able to somehow raise the amount of money required ($4400). Please pray that everything will go smoothly. Please pray that I will be able to have a sound testimony and be a good witness to the people who I have a ministry to in France.
I'll be back in Australia on the 30th of November. I need to get a job when I get back. I also need to get into University again. I've applied for some courses majoring in English and one majoring in Linguistics.
In other news Bright Eyes had resurfaced on my list of favourite bands. And Adam Brody in my list of favourite actors.
| | Currently Listening Neon Bible By Arcade Fire Since last entry I listened to this a lot then stopped listening to it as much and then this weekend listened to it a lot more. So much depth. So awesome. see related | So there are a lot of parallels to how God views us. One of the strongest and one of the most common is like that of a child. As I was moisturising my dry face this evening I was thinking about a conversation that Christians everywhere are likely to get into every once in a while.
It went a little something like this...
Christian Person: So why do you think it's better to live a life ignoring even the potential for the existence of God? Imaginary Person: Because it allows me to make up my own rules and live life how I want to live it. CP: I see, so living life with rules and boundaries is much better? IP: Yeah. CP: So what would you say about someone who lives their whole life according, not to their own will, but to someone else's will? IP: I'd say they're being oppressed *Insert analogy of child* CP: So if a newborn child, or maybe even a 4 year-old lives their life according to their own will what would be the outcome? IP: Well, they'd probably die or something. CP: Right, they'd have a great time for a while, they'd steal chocolate and stuff from shops, and they'd eat cookies all the time and if they went to school they would quit going to school. But eventually things won't turn out very well for them. IP: Yeah... CP: So can you see how living life under God's direction is better? IP: Kind of, but we're not children. We are older, and we know more about what's good for us, and even though I live by my own rules I still go to work and I don't steal or anything because I know what's right.
But the point is that we ARE children and we DON'T know what we're doing. We may think that we understand all we need to know about life but the fact is God knows how we work, he knows how our bodies, our brains, and our souls work. So he knows that what we may see as good and maybe even what the world may see as good is actually quite harmful.
I know this is well traveled ground and nothing I've said here is fresh but it's something that I've been thinking about tonight and it's something I could benefit from hearing.
So have faith that the plans that God has for you are truly good. Delight in his precepts, some might say.
(In case you're wondering I now spend most of my days looking for work to do for the next month or so, organising and sorting out plans for going to France in September, and looking up information about Colleges/Universities for 2008. I also 'waste' a lot of time listening to music and playing drums and guitar. On friday I saw the Shins play in a really nice theatre in Adelaide. It was splendid. And yes from some angles James Mercer looks a lot like Kevin Spacey. And one of the guitarists looks a lot like Josh Massie. Ha!)
| | Currently Listening Neon Bible By Arcade Fire Just when you think a band has reached their zenith they come out with another amazing album. As they say in Montreal, 'moy bueno'. (Do I really have to say 'just kidding'?) see related | The metaphorical smoke has effectively cleared.
So I finished my first semester of Physics at College. I got 2 High Distinctions, 1 Disctinction, and 1 Credit. Most excellent some would say. However, I'm dropping out of College. For a while I've been hating Physics. Now it's time to act on that.
What are you going to do with the rest of this year? I hear you all ask. Well I'm hoping to go to France from between September to November. I talked to Mr Kris Stout last night and he seems pretty cool about the idea. So I'm pretty excited about that.
When I get back I'll hopefully be able to get a job, pay off some debt etc.
Then in February next year, Lord willing, I'll be able to go back to College to study once more. This time my desired degree is a Bachelor of English Language at Monash University.
I'm seeing the Shins in 2 weeks. (By that I mean the band, not the body part). This is good. It's almost as exciting as seeing my long lost brother. (Or is it the other way around...)

| So since my last entry I have done a lot.
I have... seen Copeland seen Anberlin seen Emery seen Underoath decided not to study Physics anymore. watched a lot of movies. hung out in the city. met a lot of really cool people from a Church on the other side of the city. played the drums a lot.
This week I am going to be counseling at the camp I used to counsel at a while ago. I'm doing a week of teen camp and it shall be awesome.
After that I will resume my search for a job.
At the beginning of August I'm going on a road trip to see the Shins in Adelaide. I have a relative who lives there as well... I might go visit that guy.
I'd like to go to France and/or the UK for a while too. I don't have any details about that. But hopefully it will work out that I can go.
If this were facebook it would say: Timothy is at camp. or Timothy is bearded. or Timothy is Andrew Moore.
